Xfce 4.4 導覽

到了今天，經過漫長的等待，Xfce 桌面環境4.4.0終於發佈了。我將會試著強調一些自上個穩定版本發佈以來新增的功能。

桌面圖示

其中一個在4.0到4.2間最常被請求的就是支援桌面圖誓。現在，Xfce 4.4.0，這個功能終於被加入到桌面管理員 Xfdesktop 了。

桌面管理員利用 Thunar 的函式庫來處理應用程式啟動器及桌面上的一般檔案及資料夾。桌面管理員還可以在桌面上顯示最小化視窗的圖示，這在 CDE 界是非常流行的功能。當然，如果您偏好一個乾淨的桌面，您也可以完全停用桌面圖示。

Xfdesktop 也繼續提供應用程式選單的入口，就像它在先前的 Xfce 版本所做的一樣。

檔案管理員

桌面圖示支援在取代先前的檔案管理員 Xffm 的新檔案管理員， Thunar 中隨手可得。

Thunar 從頭開始編寫，為 Xfce 提供了一個易用的仍然輕量的檔案管理員。它的使用者介面與 GTK+ 2.4中引入的檔案選擇器看起來很相似，其他的檔案管理員，如 Nautilus 及 pcmanfm 也都已經採用了同樣的想法。

Thunar supports all the file management functionality which users will expect, and also several advanced features. For example, a so-called Bulk Renamer is included which allows users to rename multiple files at once using a certain criterion.

可移除式裝置與媒體

Xfce 4.4.0 可以很容易的使用在可移除式裝置與媒體上的資料。在電腦上，只要您將媒體插入到磁碟中，或是插入新的磁碟，在桌面上及 Thunar 的側邊欄中就會出現一個代表可移除裝置與媒體的圖示。

在圖示上點擊就會自動掛載此裝置或媒體。在圖示上點擊右鍵可以卸載裝置或是從裝置中退出媒體。請注意，此功能需要 HAL ，因此，在撰寫本文時，只有 Linux 2.6.X 和 FreeBSD 6.X 及以上的版本才支援（在 FreeBSD 4.X 及 5.X 中不需要 HAL，但只對可移除裝置有有限度的支援）。

文字編輯器

新的文字編輯器 MousePad 也包含在此版本中。 MousePad 提供了所有基本的文字編輯器的功能，不多也不少。

您可以把 MousePad 想成是 Windows 上的 記事本 。即使是在老舊的系統上，它都可以通常是少於一秒的速度快速啟動。

視窗管理員

Xfwm4 仍然是視窗管理員的心臟。

此版的主要特性是，增強的合成器，支援透明的 ARGB 視窗、陰影、視窗邊框透明度等等。

Xfwm4 也包含了一個新的應用程式切換器，能在目前的工作區顯示所有的視窗及其圖示和標題，就如上面的截圖所示。

Further on support for multiple image formats for window decoration themes was added, including PNG, GIF and SVG images.

也加入了用於視窗管理員的進階控制，可由其微調視窗的行為。

面板

The Xfce4-panel was completely rewritten for the Xfce 4.4 release. Multiple panels are supported out of the box now and can easily be configured using the new Panel Manager shown in the screenshot below.

上一版的主要問題是，每個插件都與面板在同一個程序中執行，從而導致每個插件都可能會摧毀整個面板。為了修正此問題，已經在面板中加入了外部插件的支援。

取決於插件的穩定性，開發者現在可以決定插件應該要以外部程序或是面板程序的一部份執行。

既然現在已經有多面板支援了，就再也不需要獨立的 Xftaskbar4 及 Xfce4-iconbox 實用工具了，工具列和圖示盒現在都以面板插件的形式提供。

在 Xfce Goodies 專案 上的許多額外的面板外掛程式都已經對新的面板更新，也加入了一些新的外掛程式。例如，新的 xfce4-xfapplet-plugin 讓使用者可以加入 GNOME 面板的小工具到 Xfce 面板上。

時間管理

新的時間管理應用程式 Orage 取代了在 Xfce 4.2.0中引入的 Xfcalendar。 Orage 提供許多能有效管理您的時間的功能。

While Orage is very lightweight and easy to use, it supports all the important features found in larger calendar applications like Outlook or Evolution. While Xfcalendar used the custom dbh format in the past to store your settings, Orage is based on ical and therefore compatible with other calendar applications.

終端機模擬器

雖然在4.2的時代就有了 終端機 ，但作為核心的一部份，它還不夠成熟。在此主要版本中，它被移入到了核心桌面。

Besides the basic features which you might expect from a terminal emulator, it includes some nice additional features, like multiple tabs per window, customizable toolbars and the ability to configure nearly every aspect of the application via hidden options. As can be seen in the screenshot above, this release also supports real transparency using Xfwm4’s integrated composition manager.

列印

Xfprint, the Xfce printing management application, saw several small improvements with this release. First, the a2ps converter is not mandatory anymore, whilst still recommended. Support for CUPS 1.2 was added and Xfprint is now able to display the printer state with the CUPS-backend.

Xfprint also integrates with MousePad to provide generic printing support for different kinds of text documents using the a2ps converter.

As you can see the print dialog still looks relatively similar to that of Xfce 4.2, but the internal workings of the printing support were improved, especially the CUPS support. Besides that, the printing management functionality was moved to a library, so other applications can use the API to access the printer configuration.

自動啟動

Xfce 4.4.0 實現了新的 自動啟動規範 - 事實上 Xfce 是第一個實現上述功能的桌面環境，但其他桌面環境更快發佈。 ;-)

The specification consists of two parts, the Autostart of Applications During Startup, which is implemented in xfce4-session and the Autostart Of Applications After Mount which is implemented in thunar-volman. This release also includes the xfce4-autostart-editor, shown in the screenshot above, which allows users to easily add, remove or disable autostarted applications.

設定值

此版本引入了一些讓您可以按自己所需自訂桌面的選項。新設定對話框的一些範例已經在上一節中顯示了。

偏好的應用程式框架，先前僅在 終端機 中可用，已經導入到 Xfce 中，使用者再也不需要編輯 shell 設定檔來指定 Xfce 應用程式應該使用哪一個瀏覽器及終端機模擬器了。其目標是讓它可以更加容易的更改特定應用程式的預設應用程式(GNOME 使用者可能會發現 GNOME 也採用了這個辦法，因為它相當簡單)。

然後是在 Xfce 4.2中的鍵盤快捷鍵問題…Xfce 4.2限制了可自由使用的快捷鍵數量，但通常人們會想要使用任意數量的快捷鍵。從 Xfce 4.4開始，這個限制已經成為了歷史，並且從現在開始，應用程式的快捷鍵與視窗管理員的快捷鍵分離。
