今天，我們很高興的宣佈最終版本預定在2011年1月16日發佈的 Xfce 4.8最終預覽版本。相較 Xfce 4.8pre2，這個版本主要是翻譯更新和臭蟲修復。
在4.8pre2和4.8pre3中間有耶誕節和新年，因此毫不意外的只處理了多數組件中的少數問題。
Among other things we updated the default keyboard shortcuts to include monitor keys. The status icon of the file manager’s progress dialog is now properly hidden when the dialog is destroyed. Its wallpaper plugin is now capable of handling filenames with spaces. The environment variables of commands launched from the Xfce run dialog were not set properly, so we fixed that so that commands launched from the dialog always inherit the environment of the Xfce session.
We also made the --reboot and --halt parameters of xfce4-session-logout work again which previously simply logged out the active user. In order to avoid a race condition at session startup and in order to speed things up a little more we no longer use xrdb to update xft and cursor settings and instead, update the related XSETTINGS properties ourselves.

這或許聽起來是有點用處的修復，但比起再次進入新 Xfce 面板的大量工作來說是微不足道的。大約 20+ 的已知臭蟲及退化已被修復。這裡是完整的變動記錄的摘錄：修復了外部插件的翻譯區，插件將可以再次使用 DND 來排序，在項目編輯器上雙擊特定項目會顯示偏好設定，拖曳項目到項目編輯器對話框中會將其再次從面板上移除，視窗列表現在可以用顯示器過濾。另一個近期出現的問題也被修復，也就是通知區域，或稱系統匣中的圖示大小。
Xfce 4.8pre3 也更新了許多翻譯，您可以在完整的變動記錄中看到。
既然4.8遵循 Xfce 的 釋出模式 ，我們應該在今天如期宣佈代碼凍結及創建早期的生命週期分支。我們決定不這麼作的原因是，沒有足多活躍的人能夠照料這個版本。所以我們將會繼續修復主線分支中的臭蟲，像我們在4.8pre2與4.8pre3中所作的事一樣。
